Clara Jacobs (b. 1920) was the late-in-life child of Nellie and Hal Jacobs, both of whom died before she reached adulthood. Upon the death of her mother she inherited and continued to operate Nellie's famous coffee shop. She had an antagonistic relationship with her nephew, Armstrong Grimes, but still sent him a wedding announcement while he was stationed in Utah during the Second Great War. As her fiance's name was Humphrey Baxter, Armstrong responded by joking about the lead actor of The Maltese Elephant.
