Fruit Boy was a potential member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, but was rejected. He had the power to accelerate the growth of fruits. He was later brought into the newly-formed United Planets Young Heroes team, which the UP created as a more pliable group to rival the Legion, and perhaps even replace it.
