The Obel Maritime Council is the chief governing body of the Island Nations Federation. Established shortly after the Federation itself, the council quickly gained a reputation for slow and ponderous deliberation of matters brought before it, much to the consternation of original Federation Chairman, Lino En Kuldes. In 309, the council took several weeks to decide whether to authorise reinforcements to back up Kyril and his companions after reports were sent to Obel about the Kooluk Empire's attempts to rebuild El-Eal, a breach in the conditions of it's cease-fire with the Federation.
