A mass recycler or recycler was an apparatus found aboard starships for the purpose of recycling many of the consumable items onboard. Food trays, utensils and drinking vessels were some of the items place in the recycler for future use. Some mass recyclers had the ability to reprocess water into fresh water. In 3 BBY, the Millennium Falcon was equipped with a mass recycler, when it was owned by Lando Calrissian.
