The ten sentinels were part of a group of twelve in a small reconnaissance and skirmish group, mainly aiming to rescue stragglers or engage into hit and run attacks, under the wise and inspiring leadership of Sergeant Halcha All of them eventually died; no one is sure why they were sent against the encampment though rumours suggest that the sending of the group was intentional of someone of a higher commander but it is very uncertain.
