He played junior for the Peterborough Petes, a Canadiens' farm team, from 1964-67. Then he played in their minor pro system until 1970, playing one game with the Canadiens themselves. The Los Angeles Kings obtained him in 1970 and he played two and a half seasons for them. In 1973 he was traded to the St. Louis Blues. He played a total of 185 NHL games, scoring 3 goals and 34 assists. Curtis played for the Michigan Stags/Baltimore Blades of the WHA in 1974-75. He retired in 1976.
