Jedi brute was a title used by the Jedi Order to describe one of four Jedi-held ranks in the Coruscant Jedi Temple Security Force. Alongside the Gate Master and the snipers and Jedi Temple Guard, brutes were the Temple's first line of defense from troublemakers, zealots, and rioters.
