The 1989 Pepsi 400 was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) event held at Daytona International Speedway on July 1, 1989. Davey Allison won his second and final race of the year, holding off Morgan Shepherd to the line after race leader Mark Martin ran out of fuel with only a few laps remaining. The race was marred by several multi car accidents including one that saw Lake Speed barrel roll down the back stretch. Points leader Dale Earnhardt was 18th and Rusty Wallace was 17th to keep Earnhardt's lead at 124 points. Stats
