Selven was taught back into the ways of the Jedi, where he was number one in his class. His brothers, Joshua Skywalker and Rik Skywalker, were born a few years after he was. They spent everyday together practicing lightsaber dueling. After 5 years, Selven was enlisted in the Defenders army. He was promoted to a General after his first year.
