It was approved for construction in 1967 and constructed was completed in 1971. It is part of a scheme which was imagined upon a councillor's visit to the Marina City development in Chicago, USA.

It was approved for construction in 1967 and constructed was completed in 1971. It is part of a scheme which was imagined upon a councillor's visit to the Marina City development in Chicago, USA. In the early 2000s, Optima Homes refurbished the tower, reclading it, constructing a new entrance, repainting the tower, adding roof features and replacing the windows.
