Murdoch: "It must be yours." Narrator: Not long ago he had fallen in a dirty ditch. Rosie enjoyed teasing him about it. Rosie: "Bill, Ben, do you know what I think it is? it's ditchwater." Narrator: Before Murdoch could anwser, Rosie trundled away. Narrator: Bill and Ben could hardly believe their eyes. Bill + Ben: "She's dreadfully, I feel quite ashamed. I feel quite ashamed, she's dreadfully rude." Narrator: And to Rosie, they said," Bill + Ben: "You mustn't be rude, you make us ashamed." Narrator: But Rosie didn't care a bit. Rosie: "That was funny." "That was funny." Narrator: She chuckled. She felt very pleased with herself. Bill and Ben were deeply shock. They had great respect for Murdoch the Big Engine. Narrator: Rosie left the twins at the station, and went off to a mine for some cars. Narrator: Long ago, miners digging for lead had made tunnels under the ground. Their rooves are strong enough to hold up cars, but not the weight of engines. A large notice warns them not to enter the area. Narrator: Danger! Engines must not pass this board. Rosie: "Silly old board." Narrator: thought Rosie. Narrator: She had often tried to pass it, but had never succeeded, but this morning, she made a plan. Narrator: The fireman went to throw the switch. Rosie: "Now for my plan." Narrator: thought Rosie. Narrator: Bumping the freight cars fiercely, she jerked her driver off the footplate and followed them into the siding. Rosie's Driver: "Come back!" Narrator: yelled her driver. Rosie: "Fire and smoke!" Narrator: said Rosie. Rosie: "I'm sunk!" Narrator: And she was." Rosie: "Oh dear." Narrator: she said. Rosie: "I am a silly engine." Lady Hatt: "And a very naughty 1 too, I saw you!" Narrator: said Lady Hatt." Rosie: "Please get me out, I won't do it again!" Lady Hatt: "I'm not sure. We can't left you out with the crane. The ground's not firm enough......hmmm.....let me see........I wonder if Murdoch could pull you out." Rosie: "Yes, ma'am." Narrator: said Rosie, but she didn't wanna meet Murdoch just yet. Murdoch: "Down a mine, is she? hee, hee, hee!" Narrator: laughed Murdoch. Murdoch: "What a joke!" Murdoch: "Poop, poop, little Rosie, we'll have you out in a couple of puffs!" Narrator: strong cables were fastened between the 2 engines. Lady Hatt: "Are you ready? heave!" Narrator: It was a lot harder then they all throught, but at last, Rosie was free." Rosie: "I'm sorry I was cheeky." Narrator: said Rosie. Murdoch: "That's alright,Rosie........you've made me laugh." Narrator: said Rosie. Murdoch: "I'm disgrace." Rosie: "So am I." Narrator: said Rosie. Murdoch: "Why so you are, Rosie, shall we form an alliance? you help me, and I'll help you." Rosie: "Right you are!" Narrator: agreed Rosie. Murdoch: "Good, that's settled." Narrator: grumbled Murdoch. Narrator: And buffer to buffer, the allies puffed home. Down the Mine is the twenty-fifth episode of the first season.
