Watching was the most horrific part. She knew they were gone but he made her watch it. She would never forget their faces as their bodies lay upon the ground, unmoving, eyes empty where only moments before there had been light. She wasn't alone but felt like it as his minions ushered her and her sister to the waiting shuttle. They had only the clothes on their back and their fear, nothing more. Masiri tried to console her sister as she felt the vessel lift and gain altitude, disappearing into the black void of space. Not long after their flight began it ended on the deck of a much larger ship. The sights, sounds and smells washed over her as they prodded the two young girls out of the shuttle into the gaping maw of a side corridor. The walk to their new residence was a short one as they were shoved unceremoniously through a doorway and into a foul smelling, dark chamber. Scraps of cloth and garbage littered the floor, a pile of dirty straw crammed into a corner. It seemed like forever until the door was opened again. Masiri knew she had fallen asleep cradling her sister as she cried but there was no way for her to tell how long that had lasted. A new concern arose in her mind as he stepped into the chamber. There were no words, no directions, or gestures. There was only pain, seemingly endless pain as waves of energy washed over them both. It seemed to last for hours and would stop as suddenly as it began. After the first few assaults neither girl could remain concious for long. Both passed out from the agony once the attack ceased. He never touched them, even approached them when the door was opened. All she came to know was fear whenever the door slid open. They flinched when the meals were delivered, expecting him to step into the doorway and begin his assaults. The concern was for how long the two of them could last. She didn't know how long they had been captives. She tried to protect her younger sister the best she could but it seemed futile. The energy was all encompassing. Then, for one moment in time everything changed. It wasn't like she couldn't still feel what was happening to her. The energy still enveloped her body as she convulsed and writhed in pain but through it all she heard a voice tell her it was going to be ok. It was soft, soothing in her mind and the only sense of safe harbor she had heard in who knows how long. It strengthed her somehow, giving her the strength to endure when all seemed lost. She had hoped her sister heard it too but she showed no sign and spoke very little. If anything Masiri worried her sister was growing more and more despondent with each passing day. She wasn't about to let her give up, someone had to be looking for them. There had to be hope.Family
