Hithlain
rdfs:comment
Hithlain [Sindarin; Hith (mist) + lain (thread)] was a material used by the elves of Lórien to make ropes that were very light, slender, and flexible, yet extremely strong. They could be unknotted at will by their users, but it is unclear whether this magic was a property inherent to the ropes (i.e. the way they were made) or to Hithlain itself. It is unknown if the material had other 'magical' properties, besides being burning to the touch for beings like Gollum who had been corrupted by evil. Grey in colour, it had a silky texture.[citation needed]
