Quickling queen
rdfs:comment
Quickling queen is a type of monster in ADOM. They are extremely nasty late game monsters that have truly incredible speed, and not only are guaranteed to injure the PC if their attack lands but each attack also poisons. When fighting a quickling queen the PC can end up receiving several counts of poisoning each turn, which can lead to catastrophic results if not cured quickly enough. Since they are extremely evasive and tend to stay out of melee range after attacking, PCs are advised to try to take them with whatever magic they have (even if they rely primarily on melee combat). Archery is also an option... if the PC is an extremely good shot.

Eating quickling royalty increases the PC's speed, but also reduces their lifespan by about 20-25%. This is usually not a good tradeoff, especially for short lived races that face extreme danger from ghost lords or ghost kings anyway.

Seeming a petite blur, the quickling queens are much revered for their clear vision and rapidity of thought. These queens are not only creatures of speed and observation, but have a sharp sting of their own, injecting enemies with poisons as swift as their thoughts.
