Mimosoideae es una subfamilia de la familia Fabaceae, son plantas generalmente leñosas, arbustos y árboles. Hojas bipinnaticompuestas, a veces con reducción de la lámina de la hoja y expansión de los peciolos formando filodios. Flores actinomorfas, pentámeras, con prefloración valvar, con numerosos estambres largos y coloreados (a veces en glomérulos), en general libres, nunca forman un tubo alrededor de la corola. Unas 2.000 especies, de regiones tropicales y subtropicales. Esta subfamilia se divide en cinco infrafamilias: Acacieae, Ingeae, Mimoseae, Mimozygantheae y Parkieae
