Orhan II was Sultan of the Ottoman Empire and Caliph of Islam. He was born on 11 July 1909 in Constantinople, Ottoman Empire, the son of Prince Mehmed Abdul Kadir and Hadice Macide. He became Sultan of the Ottoman Empire and Caliph of Islam upon the death of Ali I on 9 December 1983. He reigned until his death on 12 March 1994 in Constantinople and was succeeded by Osman V.
