Altstadt Altstadt
rdfs:comment
Altstadt is the capital city of the Duchy of New Prussia, the largest metropolitan area in the country, and the largest urban zone in the Celtic World Order by most measures. Located on the River Holden, Altstadt has been a major settlement for two millenia, its history going back to its founding by the Romans, who called it neue Stadt. Altstadt's ancient core, the City of Altstadt, largely retains its square-mile medieval boundaries. Since at least the 20th century, the name Altstadt has also referred to the metropolis developed around this core. The bulk of the conurbation forms the Altstadt Region and the Greater Altstadt administrative area, governed by the elected Mayor of Altstadt and the Altstadt Assembly. Altstadt is a leading global city, with strengths in the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism and transport all contributing to its prominence. It is the CWO's largest financial centre alongside New Dublin and has the largest city GDP in the alliance. It has the sixth most international visitors of any city in the world and Albert II Airport is the world's tenth busiest airport by number of international passengers. Altstadt's 52 universities form the largest concentration of higher education institutions in New Prussia. In 2015, Altstadt will become the first city to hold the National Sports Competition. Altstadt has a weak diversity of peoples, cultures and religions within its boundaries which has caused international criticism from other world nations. In April 2011, Greater Altstadt had an official population of 482'721, making it the most populous municipality in the Celtic World Order. The Greater Altstadt Urban Area is the second largest in the CWO with a population of 956'437, while Altstadt's metropolitan area is the largest in the CWO with an estimated total population of between 1 million and 1.2 million. Altstadt had the largest population of any city in New Prussia from 1826 onwards when it overtook Cape Coronation. Altstadt contains seven World Heritage Sits: Altstadt Royal Palace, Altstadt City Wall, Altstadt Cathedral, Holden Bridge, St. Michaels Church, neue Stadt Gardens and Queen Angela Library. Altstadt is home to numerous museums, galleries, libraries, sporting events and other cultural institutions including the Altstadt Museum, National Gallery, Atlas Square and 37 theatres.
