My Pokemon life: Chapter 9 - Armed to the teeth
rdfs:comment
Set afloat in a dream, I can feel the grass of my homeland just itching at my feet. I shut my eyes in relaxation as I saw my home, the orphanage, once more. The air was crisp with spring breeze, and the sun just loomed overhead like a big lamp. Kids were playing at the local playard as parents watched them grow. Unoticed (litterally), I walked to the front doors of my home, and turned the rusty handle. Inside was nothing but blackness, I turned back, only to see a purple sky-ed world, and everything is frozen as if someone pressed pause. Then came the growling. I turned back at the dark room, only to meet face to face with a huge beast. Armed with at least a thousand teeth, with it's yellow glowing eyes locked on me, I couldn't move. The beast then lunged at me, causing me to scream. That is, until I woke up. Panting, I scanned around my area, scared and confused. There was no snakes, no steel-spheres, no Helga. Just a quiet homy room with a couple of vases and a fire. I sighed in relaxation, and slouched. "Enjoy your sleep?" Someone asked behind me. I turned around, only to find a strange salamander walking on two legs. It had orange cheeks and a mowhawk. "...nice Mowhawk" I nodded. "Thanks" The two-legged salamander nodded back. I looked around again, only to stop at a sense of pain in my stomach. I've been impaled, but bandaged. I felt the cloth covering my wound. I looked back at the salamander. "...where am I? ...where's Helga-" "Helga's fine" The thing replied, hand raised to interrupt. "She's just suffering a minor coma" I then thought about her brother. "What about her brother?" "He's fine, but it can be safe to say he won't be bugging you for awhile" The salamder raised his hand again to interupt. "No more questions, our leader will be here soon" "Our as in..." "Just shut up kid" The salamander said. With a grunt I looked away, thinking about Helga, and my kid. I looked back at the salamander, he was gone. "Great..." I grunted again, picking at the hay bed on the floor. Not a while later, I heard the sound of clanking, as if someone was wearing heavy armor. As I looked up, I could only see the helmet that covers the face of another creature. This one was fully armored, much like a night. With his huge sword equipped on his back, I knew it wasn't the type to be kind. The female voice startled me, I was expecting something different. Much different. "So you're the Zangoose that mated with Helga" The creature chuckled, "My...things are changing so fast..." I stood up, looking up at the visor. "Where is Helga?" I asked, teeth clenched. "Relax scar-face" She glared down, "unless if you're suggesting a fight, I suggest you pipe down kapeesh?" I gulped, and looked down at her greaves. "...alright..." "Good kid..." She walked past me, looking at the fire. She then floated down, I realized by then she didn't have legs. "Normal" legs anyways. I sat down across from her, she took off her helmet. I recognized this one right off the bat: a Latias. Except this one was dark, and had midnight black eyes. "What's wrong?" She smirked, "you never saw a Latias before?" "No...I just know about the movie, I'm not much of a Pokemon fan" "I see...well I hope you had fun sleeping, I need to show you around" She stood up, so did I. The tour of the cave made it look like a secret military base. You have the communications room, the weapons room, and the barracks. I was actually surprised to see a computer in this world, and television sets. Of course there is no signal in the cave. "Where is Helga?" I asked the Latias. She looked at me firmly. "She's waiting for you, don't worry we'll get to her" "Alright...wait hold the phone! Why is everything here like a war base?!" I hesitated. The Latias laughed. "Listen kid...war is normal around here. So expect to see alot of weapons and stuff" "B-but I'm not ready for war..." Perhaps this was the warning the cat and the Pikachu warned me about. "Well you'd better get ready" The Latias opened an armory. The place was packed with any type of weapons. You have the swords, the armor, and surprising, rifles and guns. I felt the frame of an M16 Battle Rifle, shocked. "W-where did you get all this?!" The Latias was waiting at the door, arms crossed, leaning against the wall. She looked at her claws. "None of your buisness, now pick some armor, helmets, and a gun. Pack yourself to the teeth, I don't care" I didn't know what to do. Strangely, I was attracted to all these killer weapons. I chose wisely. First I walked to the armor parts, where I picked a light armor as protection. "What are you a lady?" The bird laughed, I was in women's armor. I blushed in embarassment. Later I finally got the men's armor. I was wearing a heavy chest plate with standard arm and leg parts. The shins were rather thick, and the gauntlets felt like chains. When I asked for custom armor, the bird told me she can't do that right now. Next came the helmets, I found a helmet that is suited for a male Zangoose. As I put it on, it's thin visor activated into a futuristic view. It looked like Halo: Combat Evolved. I quickly took off the helmet and looked at it. A blue-scarred helmet stared back at me. I then put it back on. Through the ear-piece, I could hear the com of the Latias. "Try walking back and forth" At first it was difficult, but eventually got the hang of it. "Now run" "What?" I asked, the Latias glared back at me. "Run" I did so without further question, falling on my first try. I lifted myself up again and tried running again. It was difficult but at least I wasn't falling anymore. The Latias came up to me afterwards, with a pair of silver claws in her hands. "Claws" She asked, holding a hand out. I put my had on hers, she then shoved two of the four claws into it. It hurts, but it felt fine afterwards. After putting on the last pair, she looked at me. "Those are permenant claws, take good care of them" I nodded. "I will" "Since you're a rookie, I'll choose the guns for you" She looked back at the weapon's rack. She then handed me 1 Frag Grenade, an M9 sidearm, one combat knife, and the M16 Assault Rifle. I looked at the rifle with passion, I always wanted to know how a holding a gun feels like. Strangely, it felt great. I held the trigger, after making sure it was locked, and pretended to aim around. The Latias was a bit impressed. "Looks like you don't need aiming practice, come" She pulled my arm, I squeezed the trigger. Luckily it was locked. I was then staring at the sword's rack. There was an impressive display of swords. Some of them were retracted, others were huge. The Latias looked at the lower racks, where the scythes were. She gave me a purple scythe with silver blade edges. I holstered my M16, and gripped the scythe in my hands. It was not too heavy, and not too light. I can actually control it. "It's called the Scar, I'm pretty sure you'd make good use of it" The Latias smiled a bit. I nodded back. "...personally I like the blade over bullets" I spun the scythe, which nearly sliced the Latias's forehead. Luckily she blocked it with her forearm armor piece. "Watch it!" She growled, I stopped spinning. "My bad..." I rubbed my head, she laughed a bit. "You're too slow, even a rookie like you could block that" "Are you kidding?!" I spun it, away from anything, "I'm spinning this faster than usual-" "Boy you have much to learn...come on, we're going" She pulled me again, away from the room full of weapons.
