Darien is the generic name of the sphere of influence that the computer game, Total Annihilation: Kingdoms, is based upon. The word, Darien, is used in many ways and, therefore, some confusion may occur. Darien is used to describe the world, much in the same way that the name "Earth" is used to describe our planet. On page 24 of the TAK manual, the phrase "...world of Darien..." is used, denoting that the world is called Darien. Darien also refers to the Empire of Darien, established by Mage Emperor Garacaius at the end of a long civil war.
