The Kingdom enjoys close relations with her neighbors, Canada and the Union of New England (with both of whom she shares a common queen), and proposals to join one or the other have been floated several times, but never adopted. Newfoundland's economy is based largely on fishing, hydroelectricity and offshore oil drilling. Tourism is also an important part, especially in the Labrador area. The Kingdom has recently taken to promoting pride in the local English dialect.
