The men's team of the club was founded in 2000 and was known as HK Riga 2000. The other junior teams took part in their respective Latvian junior leagues. The men's team of the club was founded in 2000 and was known as HK Riga 2000. The other junior teams took part in their respective Latvian junior leagues. In 2004, the U20 junior team of the club joined the Latvian Hockey League, under the name SK Riga 20. The squad consisted mainly of members of the Latvian U20 national team, which used the league games as preparation for international play. The club moved to a new arena, Akadēmijas Ledus, in 2007 and were renamed SK LSPA / Riga. In the summer of 2009, the U20 team was disbanded and incorporated into the KHL Dinamo Riga club, as a junior section known as Dinamo-Juniors Riga.
