He would also work some matches for TNA on TNA Explosion. He in communication with Jeff Jarrett to possibly sign a contract with TNA, but subsequently communication broke down and no contract was ever signed. When Anderson signed with the WWE has sent to then developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). There is received further training and character development. While in OVW, Paul Heyman suggested to Anderson change his name to Ken Kennedy or Mr. Kennedy as to avoid confusion with the more famous Anderson wrestling family and former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ken Anderson. Heyman suggested he use Kennedy because that is Vince McMahon's middle as well as Anderson's. On August 25th, 2007, Anderson made his debut on SmackDown! by defeating Funaki. From there, Anderson has slowly risen in the ranks even become WWE United States Champion. After his reign as United States Champion, he had a few injuries as well as making movie that prevented him from being on television in a prominent role.
