Soon, the Smurfs hold a party, but a lot of attractions there appear to be sabotaged. The police force search in vain for the perpetrator, but with a trap Papa Smurf knows how to identify the culprit: there is only one Smurf who creates lanterns for the parties. The Smurfs forgive him, who now has the nickname "Lantern Smurf". However, a fire breaks out in the barn and "Lantern Smurf" is the suspect. He is sentenced to jail, but he escapes and tries to convince Smurfette and Papa Smurf that he is innocent. Papa Smurf does some research on his own and discovered that a carelessly left magnifier has set the barn on fire. "Lantern Smurf" gets vindicated, and finally the Smurf Village police force call it quits. The other Smurfs are not eager to take on their role and think that from now on, no police force can continue. However, since the police are gone, they have to bother Papa Smurf again if they have any arguments.
