Space mine
rdfs:comment
Space mines were weapons deployed in realspace to inflict damage upon enemy targets. Variants of this umbrella term include standard mines, proximity mines, sleeper mines, seeker mines, and ion mines. Usually around one meter in diameter, these devices activated when spacecraft (usually starfighters) came within a certain predefined range. A large number of mines were and used in the Palpatine Mine Network during the Galactic Civil War. The functionality of these mines is uncertain. However they do not appear to be capable of moving, and they have proven capable of breaching Asgard shields and severely damaging the hull of BC-304s. Due to the weakened nature of the shields caused by a neutron star and weapons fire from three Lucian Alliance Ha'taks, their true power is still unknown. (SG1: "Company of Thieves")
