The Middleweight Championship was a side competition for robots in the middleweight class, weighing up to 54kg. There were a total of four Middleweight Championships, one in Series 2, one in each series of Extreme, and one in Series 7. Usually, the competition was just a melee between all the entrants, but in Extreme 2, the middleweights were split up into 2 heats, from each of which 2 robots would advance to the final. There was also a Middleweight Championship planned for Series 3, but it was cancelled along with the other championships for different weight classes due to an accident in the pits. However, there was an exhibition match featuring all the middleweight robots in attendance. Craig Charles introduced this battle as the first round of the Middleweight Championship, which he said would run throughout the series, but in reality it was the only middleweight battle that was contested.
