The dreaded Goblin king Gurnordir, the earliest known owner of the Helm of Courage, used the Helm's 'power' to build up the Goblin Horde and almost conquer Monitor (the Goblins got inside the walls). When Gurnordir was killed, Monitor claimed the helm and it has been given to the Knight Champion to wear ever since. Pomdirgun, King of the Goblins at the time of Ultima VII Part Two, claimed to be a descendant of Gurnordir. Gurnordir's ashes were put in the Urn of Gurnordir, which are housed in Knight's Test for testing potential Monitorian knights.
