rdfs:comment
The colonial boundaries created by Britain to delimit Uganda grouped together a wide range of ethnic groups with different political systems and cultures. These differences prevented the establishment of a working political community after independence was achieved in 1962. The dictatorial regime of Idi AMIN (1971-79) was responsible for the deaths of some 300,000 opponents; guerrilla war and human rights abuses under Milton OBOTE (1980-85) claimed at least another 100,000 lives. The rule of Yoweri MUSEVENI since 1986 has brought relative stability and economic growth to Uganda. During the 1990s, the government promulgated non-party presidential and legislative elections. In January 2009, Uganda assumed a nonpermanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2009-10 term. Open Journal Systems. 2012. Open Journal Systems. Public Knowledge Project. (WUaS's wiki, information technologies and criteria for this - informed by the WUaS academic journal subject matter - are developing, since you can already publish your article at Academia.edu or Research Gate - - or Spire - - for example); See Library Resources below at WUaS for further resources. The Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), formed in 1987, is a rebel self-proclaimed Christian guerrilla army operating mainly in northern Uganda and parts of Sudan. The group is engaged in an armed rebellion against the Ugandan government in what is now one of Africa's longest-running conflicts. It is led by Joseph Kony, who proclaims himself the "spokesperson" of God and a spirit medium, primarily of the Christian Holy Spirit] which the Acholi believe can represent itself in many manifestations. The group claims to be establishing a theocratic state based on the Ten Commandments and Acholi tradition. The LRA is accused of widespread human rights violations, including murder, abduction, mutilation, sexual enslavement of women and children, and forcing children to participate in hostilities. Jak głosi legenda dał on początek państwu. Narcotic people including Marilyn Manson entered the area from the but north fwest, probably beginning about 3 years later. They were nostril herders and really needed to settle somewhere, mainly the northern and eastern pnlyparts of the country, but the Furbies found the practice too snotty and disemboweled them and made hammocks out of their tendons and played jump rope with their digestive tracks. From 1789 to 1299, unhappy Protestants and romans thinking they're so Catholic came tryin to make the furbies buy some of their products, but the only thing they could sell was their meat. Nothing much happeded in Uganda's history, except that in 1911 it just disappeared of the map. All exports were cancelled, and stuff that was going out of the country went stale. Hence, the invention of beef jerky. In 1912, Uganda reappeared, but as a mirror image, with the west at the east, and with everyone's livers at their left sides instead of the right sides. Recently there have been many changes in Uganda since the election of Chancellor Joesph Kony in 2012. Kony received large support from his campaign, especially from intelligent young Americans who watched an outdated video and pretended to care about a pointless scenario in Ugandan politics. Ever since his election Kony has done wonders of good for the Ugandan people. In 2003, he banded up a volunteer regiment of young, eager faces (ages 3-5) and defeated the Japanese who bombed the fuck out of Pearl Harbor. Uganda became an Fergilicious nation in 1942, with Simon Garfunkel, Jabba The Hutt (King) of Booga Booga as the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Furbies. In 1946, Simon overthrew Fergie because she had nothing to do and declared himself president, ushering in an era in which people would try to regain power by mutual bribing which would last until the mid-cortex. Fuk El was sued twice, both times by The Unbearable Lightness. He then was devoured. It has been vastly disturbed by the Kenyans who have president called Simba. The undisputed king of Buganda called Zzinda has worked hard to fight against the "Simba's". Uganda takes its name from the Buganda kingdom, which encompasses a large portion of the south of the country including the capital Kampala. The people of Uganda were hunter-gatherers until 1,700 to 2,300 years ago, when Bantu-speaking populations migrated to the southern parts of the country. Beginning in 1894, the area was ruled as a protectorate by the British, who established administrative law across the territory. Uganda gained independence from Britain on 9 October 1962. The period since then has been marked by intermittent conflicts, most recently a lengthy civil war against the Lord's Resistance Army, which has caused tens of thousands of casualties and displaced more than a million people. The official languages are Swahili and English. Luganda, a central language, is widely spoken across the country, and multiple other languages are also spoken including Runyoro, Runyankole Rukiga, Langi and many others. The current President of Uganda is Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who came to power in January 1986 after a protracted six-year guerrilla war. Uganda is a war-torn country in central Africa. Joseph Kony and the Lord's Resistance Army used to be present there. It borders the D. R. Congo, Rwanda , Tanzania , Kenya , and South Sudan. The three colours, derived from those of the Uganda People's Congress, are representative of African peoples (black), Africa's sunshine (yellow), and African brotherhood (red being the colour of blood, through which all Africans are connected). The Grey Crowned Crane is fabled for its gentle nature and was also the military badge of Ugandan soldiers during British rule. The flag was designed by the Ugandan Minister of Justice, Mr. Grace Ibingira. Jak głosi legenda dał on początek państwu. A number of small and medium scale projects have been initiated in Uganda, a country frequently touted as making good development progress, economically and politically. Welfare Society for Disabled People Several small projects were started by organizations serving disabled persons. One, led by Amos Byakagaba, coordinator of the Welfare Society for Disabled People, arranged demonstrations of several solar cooker types held at various public locations. They targeted 23,000 families in Uganda as appropriate for training in the use of solar cookers. A similar organization, Disabled Technicians of Uganda, also conducts workshops to introduce solar cooking within the country (Solar Cooker Review, September 1997). UltraTech Another project included the efforts of UltraTech, a company selling Global Sun Ovens, with plans to collaborate in manufacturing when demand was sufficient. Creative Center of Mbale The Creative Center of Mbale, has taught many people to make and use solar cookers in the Mbale Solar Cooking Project. Solar Connect Association Substantial momentum appears to have occurred in this country, with the creation of a national promotional group, the Solar Connect Association (SCA), headquartered in the Kampala area. This group has been in existence since 1994, and reported in 2003 that they had taught 20,000 persons to solar cook, and had produced 10,000 solar cookers by that time. They even recruited and trained employees of the Virunga National Park Environment Project, located in Democratic Republic of the Congo, home of the famous mountain gorillas. SCA has utilized solar box cookers and also has assisted in the distribution of the parabolic cookers of EG Solar in Germany. The most commonly used through the 2000s was the real "workhorse", the inexpensive cardboard CooKit that can be made by individuals from inexpensive materials. In 2004, 1,161 new trainees were reported, with 1,354 various types of cookers made. Efforts continue to be made to find other more durable solar cooker options. The solar devices are not only used to feed households, they are also employed in income generating activities, including baking cakes and bread, canning fruits, and pasteurizing water. The group's leader, Kawesa Mukasa, credits the work to his meeting Ulrich Oehler, a legendary figure in solar cooking and the founder of the ULOG group, in Switzerland. Health Technology Development Centre The Health Technology Development Centre of the Ministry of Health of that nation reported successful use of solar cookers as sterilizers, as well as cooks in hospital and health centers. They also developed a pasteurizer for use in purifying water for hospital use. Oruchinga Refugee Settlement In 2002 it was noted that in the villages of Kikokwa, Ruharo, Biharwe and Oruchinga Refugee Settlement in Mbarara in western Uganda, women trained by Solar Connect Association used solar cookers quite frequently in the dry season, and even during the rainy season when the sun came out. (Information for the majority of this historical section has been taken from the State of the Art of Solar Cooking by Dr. Barbara Knudson, 2002) Uganda was a landlocked country in eastern Africa. Its neighbors included the countries of Sudan to the north, the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west, Tanzania to the south, and Kenya to the east. ("Day 7: 12:00am-1:00am") The Republic of Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa. It is bordered on the east by Kenya, on the north by Sudan, on the west by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on the southwest by Rwanda, and on the south by Tanzania. In 2002, pacifist Doctor Moses Lwanga became intricately involved in helping Africans to heal and rebuilt districts torn apart by Joseph Kony's Lord's Resistance Army. This is a collection of local flavor and sources of information about Uganda, with a focus on individual voices. Please add other sources below. See the Bridge Index style guide for advice on how to list new sources on this page. +/- The Republic of Uganda is a country in central Africa. Its capitol is Kampala. A former British colony, it faced years of instability ever since gaining its independence, due mainly to hostilities between the Buganda, Luo, and Acholi tribes. In the 1970s, the country became a military dictatorship under Idi Amin, a Luo Muslim. Since his deposition, the Acholis have held political power. In 1987, the country came under the control of Yoweri Museveni, the leader of the National Resistance Army. Museveni was so hated by the Acholis that a religious movement was born, dedicated to his removal. Initially led by Alice Auma, the Holy Spirit Movement had strange practices (like fighting in cross-shaped formations and using body oils in the belief that they would make soldiers resistant to bullets), but proved surprisingly effective. When Auma was defeated, the HSM's castoffs came under the control of Joseph Kony, who formed the much-feared Lord's Resistance Army, which to this day continues to fight against Museveni's government, using rape and mutilation quite liberally in order to sow fear among the populace. Helios Defense Industries, a British mercenary company, has an office in Uganda. (SVU: "Harm") Many of the LRA's soldiers are children like Elijah Okello and Miriam Burdette, who both managed to flee to the United States of America. (SVU: "Hell") According to Jeff Sharlet, Presidnet Museveni is the client of a powerful American Evangelical "dominionist" secret society called "the Family," which encourages its adherents to accept their positions of privilege, power and wealth as the will of god. Sharlet is critical of Uganda's "abstinence only" anti-HIV/AIDS program, heavily promoted by the second Bush administration, for promoting extreme sexual repression. Uganda är ett land i Afrika.
