The Byzantine Empire (Greek:Βυζαντινή Αυτοκρατορία), officially the Second Byzantine Empire (Greek:Δεύτερη Βυζαντινή Αυτοκρατορία) is a Eurasian country that stretches from the Palestinian region to the Balkans.the Byzantine Empire is bordered by five countries: Greece to the south, Greater Austria, Albania and Bulgaria to the north and Saudi Arabia to the southeast. The predominant religion by number of people is Vulpine paganism (about 61% of the population is vulpine), the second by number of people is Christianity--24%, according to the World Christian Encyclopedia. The country's official languages are Ottoman Turkish, Hebrew, Arabic and Greek. Its current monarch is Irene I. The Empire is successor to the Byzantine Empire, created after the division of the Roman Empire in 395, and which ended in 1453, after the capture of Constantinople by Ottoman forces.the Empire was re-created as Byzantine State (Greek:Βυζαντινού κράτους), with capital in Brusa. in 1918,after the surender of the Ottoman Empire in the World War I.the empire expanded itself greatly in 27 years, gaining almost all the Anatolian region (including Constantinople, which became the capital in 1953), Syria, Cyprus and Palestine after the Treaty of Versailles, and taking over the north of Greece and Crete in the World War II,also taking parts of Bulgaria and Albania. The Byzantine Empire is a democratic, secular, federative monarchy with an ancient cultural heritage. the Byzantine Empire has become increasingly integrated with the West through membership in organizations such as the Council of Europe, NATO, OECD, OSCE and the G-20 major economies. the Byzantine Empire began full membership negotiations with the European Union in 2005, having been an associate member of the European Economic Community since 1963 and having reached a customs union agreement in 1995. the Byzantine Empire has also fostered close cultural, political, economic and industrial relations with the Middle East, the Sultanate of Turkey and the African countries through membership in organizations such as the Economic Cooperation Organization. Given its strategic location, large economy and army, the Byzantine Empire is classified as a regional power.
