Rancid is a punk band the Bay Area who are partially responsible for the 90s punk revival. Their songs often are influenced by ska elements. This is largely due to bassist Matt Freeman and Guitarist/Singer Tim Armstrong being former members of the ska band Operation Ivy. They were joined by Lars Frederiksen and Brett Reed, who left the band in 2006 and was replaced by Branden Steineckert. Armstrong now owns the label Hellcat Records which publishes punk and related material (Oi!, Ska, rockabilly). Among others the Dropkick Murphys started out on that label. Armstrong has a large footprint in the music scene having collaborated with acts such as Pink, Gwen Stefani, Travis Barker and Cypress Hill. From 1998 to 2003 he was married to Brody Dalle, lead singer of The Distillers. Discography: * Rancid (1993) * Let's Go (1994) * ... And Out Come The Wolves (1995) * Life Won't Wait (1998) * Rancid (2000) - Not to be confused with the Album from 1993. * Indestructible (2003) * Let The Dominoes Fall (2009) Another notable release of theirs is a split album with NOFX in which both bands cover six songs of the other. Two versions were released with differently colored album covers. A green one in which the NOFX songs are before Rancid's portion and an orange one in which this is reversed. Rancid is a punk band formed in 1991 in Albany, California, by Matt Freeman and Tim Armstrong, both of whom previously played in ska punk group Operation Ivy. The band is credited with helping to revive mainstream popular interest in punk rock in the United States during the mid-1990s. Rancid includes Armstrong on guitar and vocals, Freeman on bass and vocals, Lars Frederiksen on guitar and vocals, and Branden Steineckert on drums. The band was formed by Armstrong, Freeman, and former drummer Brett Reed, who left the band in 2006 and was replaced by Branden Steineckert. Frederiksen joined Rancid in 1993 when the band was searching for a second guitar player. To date, Rancid has released six studio albums, one compilation, two EPs and a series of live bootlegs. The band rose to fame in 1994 with their second album, Let's Go, featuring the single "Salvation". A year later, Rancid released their highly successful album ...And Out Come the Wolves, which produced their best-known hits "Roots Radicals", "Ruby Soho" and "Time Bomb", and was certified gold and platinum by the RIAA. Their most recent studio album, Indestructible, was released in 2003. The band recently finished recording their seventh album, Let the Dominoes Fall, to be released on June 2, 2009. Rancid was part of a group of T-virus survivors hiding out outside Salt Lake City. Rancid is a Californian ska punk band. They are often compared to such hardcore punk bands such as The Clash. They originated in Berkeley, California in the late 80's Gilman scene along with Green Day. Tim Armstrong is originally from Albany, California along with Matt Freeman. Their former drummer is Brett Reed. They are signed to Epitaph Records. A taste fault giving the coffee brew a highly displeasing taste. They were one of the bands featured in the Season Two episode, "Chef Aid", as well as on the soundtrack Chef Aid: The South Park Album. No ano seguinte Rancid editou o seu álbum máis exitoso, ...And Out Come the Wolves, do cal saíron os seu sinxelos máis coñecidos, "Roots Radicals", "Ruby Soho" e "Time Bomb", e foi certificado ouro e platino pola RIAA. O seu álbum máis recente, Let the Dominoes Fall, lanzouse en xuño do ano 2009.
