A prison planet is any planet where the entire world is dedicated to the incarceration of criminals. Under the rule of House Corrino, the Imperial Prison Planet was designated Salusa Secundus after the removal of the royal court to Kaitain. The Prison Planet was an uninhabited world that was taken over by the Guardians of the Universe when they decided to become custodians of the cosmos. Searching through the universe, they encountered this isolated planet which they decided to transform into a prison world for the worst criminals the cosmos had seen. However, to accomplish this, they first decided to make the planet escape-proof in order to prevent any of the in-mates from bringing their evil to other worlds. They first managed to create a temporal barrier on the Prison Planet with certain sections being completely isolated in the timestream by being located in its own special time era. This meant that any person left on this world would be completely isolated from the other inmates as they were trapped in their own part special part in the timestream where they were unable to interact or even were aware of others on the world. With the world possessing no forms of apparent technology, the prisoners were thus unable to make use of either their fellow inmates or equipment to make their escape. Furthermore, the temporal effects involved in the forging of this prison meant that all the criminals did not suffer from the ravages of aging and thus were unable to grow old - as such, their punishment was eternal imprisonment on this world. The Oans ensured that the planet possessed enough food and water to feed the criminals whilst providing shelter at the same time in order to ensure the captive inmates survival. Among the beings that were imprisoned on the planet included Gmane Tenavor, Ashez of Jubelo, Zuraldo of Xudar, Gagaran of Mobius and Furine. This eternal prison was still functioning during the era of the Green Lantern Corps though many of the Corpsmen were unaware of its existence or usage by the Guardians. Planet Galaticca, which later became the Prison Planet was a planet used by the Galactic Authorities as the Solana Galaxy's intergalactic prison. It was protected by a shield generator and it held criminals from other galaxies, such as the Bogon Galaxy, as well as the Solana Galaxy. The prison was run by a corrupt robotic warden at the time of Ratchet's sentence there (despite the fact that he was technically innocent of the "crimes" he committed, as a mysterious criminal mastermind mind-controlled him into doing those "crimes"). Prison Guards often escorted the warden. When Ratchet was sentenced to the planet, he had to survive various attacks in locations around the prison, as most of the inmates were put there by him and they had bribed the prison warden into letting them attack Ratchet. He survived by using his wrench and various weapons Clank smuggled in to the prison for him (which were cleverly disguised as cakes). Some of the imprisoned Ratchet faced included the Thugs, Tyhrranoids and Reapers. The Thugs-4-Less Leader was also in prison at the same time, causing more problems for Ratchet. In addition to having old enemies confront him, Ratchet also managed to anger his inmates more by breaking the showers while trying to help The Plumber fix the temperature of them. Thanks to Clank, Ratchet was later proved innocent and President Phyronix pardoned him. A prison planet is any planet where the entire world is dedicated to the incarceration of criminals. (TV: The Pandorica Opens, The Infinite Quest) Another prison planet was Dis, used by the Imperial Landsknechte during the rule of the Earth Empire as a prison due to its proximity to a sun. (PROSE: Original Sin) Some planets were chosen as prison planets to serve dual roles as a prison environment and sourcing a rare or useful material: New Rarga, where wompom was grown and harvested, and Raaga, a world rich in tinclavic (PROSE: Ghost Devices, TV: The Visitation), or Sarn, dumping ground for political exiles from Trion and a source of Numismaton Gas. (TV: Planet of Fire) After violating intergalactic law by trying to take Eden 2 over, the Vladlack were sentenced to a thousand years hard labour on a prison planet. (COMIC: Freeze) Inspector Thorne planned to use Urlic as a prison planet. (TV: Lost Library of Ukko)
