The G-40F Ranger is an air deterrent flak cannon. It has a high elevation range and launches 40mm flak rounds that burst when near enemy aircraft.

The G40-F Ranger is a Nanite Systems anti-aircraft secondary waepon available to all land vehicles except the Flash. The Ranger is a slow firing flak cannon able to deal damage to all targets, however is overwhelmingly better at anti-aircraft duties than anything else. It has a significantly slower fire rate and muzzle velocity than it's brother, the G30 Walker however gains the proximity detonation effect of other anti-air turrets, such as the Skyguard. The G40-F Ranger works well at deterring ESFs, however is generally inferior to the G30 Walker. The Walker does more damage, fires faster and has over triple the muzzle velocity of the Ranger. In almost all situations, the Walker is a better anti-aircraft option. One benefit the Ranger has over the Walker, however, is the psychological effect; when it hits an enemy aircraft, the sound that plays is that of being hit by flak. This sound is very loud, and can scare weaker aircraft off. The Walker, on the other hand, makes a very gentle sound, as though the aircraft is being hit by small arms. The G40-F Ranger can aim at very steep angles upwards, able to aim directly above the vehicle it is attached to, however cannot aim low enough to hit vehicles on the same elevation as itself, leaving it quite ineffective versus ground targets. Again, it is inferior to the G30 Walker in that it has a slow fire rate, poor accuracy and low muzzle velocity, meaning that it will have trouble hitting even infantry if given the angle. NOTE: All of the Nanite Systems weaponry available for the Vanguard, Magrider and Prowler count as Empire Specific Weaponry, and do not apply Account Wide Unlocks.
