Chang Myon was vice president of the First Republic of Korea and the prime minister of the Second Republic. He was appointed second prime minister of the Republic of Korea on November 23, 1950. In 1956, he was elected vice president. After Syngman Rhee's government was ousted by a student-led pro-democracy uprising, and he was appointed prime minister of the Second Republic in 1960. At the time of the Second Republic, Korea had a parliamentary government with a prime minister. Chang Myon's government ended when Park Chung-hee led a successful coup, which ended the Second Republic.
