HC-360 Eidolon Command Carrier
rdfs:comment
The HC-360 Eidolon Command Carrier was constructed with the modern state of naval warfare in mind, following the continuing trend of starships becoming larger and being able to hold their own in combat without a fleet of support ships. It was also designed with the aim in mind to carry an extremely large fighter force in comparison with the standard Imperial Star Destroyers. However, when viewed against the Venator Cruiser from the Clone Wars era, the Command Carrier is extremely slow due to the slightly heavier shields and significantly increased armor as well as the increased firepower.

n32:abstract
The HC-360 Eidolon Command Carrier was constructed with the modern state of naval warfare in mind, following the continuing trend of starships becoming larger and being able to hold their own in combat without a fleet of support ships. It was also designed with the aim in mind to carry an extremely large fighter force in comparison with the standard Imperial Star Destroyers. However, when viewed against the Venator Cruiser from the Clone Wars era, the Command Carrier is extremely slow due to the slightly heavier shields and significantly increased armor as well as the increased firepower. Unlike many current carrier designs (including the CEC Freeman Heavy Carrier) the Command Carrier is designed to enter the center of a battle and lend its fighters some heavier supporting fire, not to retreat to a safer distance. As one may expect from a command vessel, once situated in the middle of a battlefield, the tactical and strategic officers onboard do their best to orchestrate the battle going on around them to ensure the best possible outcome. As mentioned, tactical and strategic officers on board the carrier issue orders from a specially outfitted war room situated in the approximate centre of the forward module. This war room contains an extensive holographic display of the area of space surrounding the ship, which takes up 625 square meters of floor space (25m by 25m). Due to the size, this display is built into the decking and projects the images into almost the entire volume of the war room. An advanced recognition system allows the tacticians to directly interact with the images in the air to request information and to give a number of simpler orders such as "return to carrier" and "designate primary target". With the features outlined above, the high price tag on this vessel can easily be understood.
