John Popper (March 29, 1967) is an American musician and songwriter who is famous for being the frontman of rock band Blues Traveler, who are best known for their singles "Run-Around" and "Hook." In 1999, Popper suffered a near-fatal heart attack and later underwent gastric bypass surgery, losing a significant amount of weight as he previously struggled with compulsive eating and obesity.
