However, the Herbicarnus-X was accidentally splashed on Herdlip when a laser blast from Prince Poota's Agents hit their ship. Knowing what might happen, the doctor hid himself away in his room. Because of the potion' s effects, Herdlip transformed into a mindless carnivore creature and rampaged around Jeck's palace in this state, terrorizing the baryonyx chefs, devouring raw meat, and trying to eat Teggs, Arx, Gipsy, and Iggy. Later, Herdlip changed back into his old self and gave Prince Poota, who was disguised as King Jeck, the Mump Bumps cure and the Herbicarnus-X. He soon transformed again, this time crawling into the sewers to attack the astrosaurs, King Jeck, and Captain Griffen. Arx, Griffen, and Jeck fled to Herdlip's room, but were captured by Prince Poota, Sergeant Donkle, and their minions. When Herdlip's metamorphosis wore off again, Teggs realized that the monster and the doctor were the same creature. Herdlip explained what had happened and how Herbicarnus-X worked, and Teggs told him that he was using the wrong methods to achieve peace. Poota and his agents burst in, and the renegade baryonyx revealed that he had kept the chemical for his own plans, to wipe out the Vegetarian Sector by turning its inhabitants into monsters like Herdlip and thus gain acceptance from his tyrannical idols, King Groosum and the Raptor Royal. The astrosaurs fled with the doctor, but Sergeant Donkle managed to take Herdlip prisoner. He changed in the baryonyx's arms for the third and final time, suffocating Donkle as he did so. Arx bravely stood up to the beast, force-feeding it Poota's stash of Herbicarnus-X and changing it back into Herdlip. After Poota was stopped and Jeck was healed, Griffen grabbed Herdlip, angry at what he had tried to do to them, but Jeck accepted Herdlip's apology and told the younger dinosaur to led him go. Herdlip promised to help bring peace between herbivores and carnivores, offering to give every meat-eating planet access to his cure for Ribchomper's Mump Bumps.
