Emily Aston was born 26th February, 1982 in Rossendale and played Becky Palmer in Coronation Street from 1996 to 1997. She is the sister of actors Sam Aston (Chesney Battersby-Brown) and Joseph Aston (the second actor to play Tommy Duckworth) and is one of nine children. Prior to appearing in the Street Emily had trained at the Sylvia Young Theatre School and the Oldham Theatre Workshop (a prolific training ground for many Street actors over the years) having first worked as an actress at the age of seven. She had also built up a wide range of professional experience appearing in Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit (for which she was BAFTA-nominated), Children's Ward, Casualty and the 1995 film Butterfly Kiss (scripted by Street scriptwriter Frank Cottrell Boyce).
