'Surprise Me!' is a feature introduced in the new Nintendogs + Cats. It randomly selects 3 colours of the breed you are looking at and is the only way to obtain rare colours of dogs and cats. The only breeds that do not give the 'Surprise Me!' are the Standard Cat breed and the Maltese dog breed. RoboPup is the only animal that's colour is only chosen by 'Surprise me!'.

Rare colours in dogs include full white, full black and full grey. Cats do not have full rare colours, only tints of colours such as pink or yellow.
