Captain Flint
rdfs:comment
Flint is glimpsed in the film's prologue, bringing his treasure ashore to be buried and ruthlessly murdering all his shipmates who accompanied him to preserve the secret. Though long dead during the film's main narrative, the search for Flint's treasure drives the plot. It was also Flint who callously took up with Benjamina Gunn after she was jilted by Captain Abraham Smollett and stranded her on the island. His first name is Bernie. Captain Flint, real name James Turner, is the brother of Molly Blackett and uncle to the Amazons. He is a large and strong man, tending to stoutness, a bachelor who enjoys adventurous travelling often with the aim of finding his fortune by prospecting for minerals. As it happens he gains his largest fortune by writing a very successful memoir of his adventures titled Mixed Moss. Brigadier Sir Kenneth Foxworthy (otherwise known as Captain Flint) is a 7'6" joker-ace with flesh the colour of flint and equally as hard. He has had a distinguished military career with the British Armed Forces and serves the Crown as Grand Marshal of the Order of the Silver Helix. Captain Flint is a villain from one of the greatest stories of all time, Treasure Island. Flint was responsible for burying an enormous treasure (approximately £700,000) on an island located in the Spanish Main in which he was assisted by six of his crew-members. After the treasure was buried, he murdered all six of them and left the corpse of Allardyce with outstretched arms pointing to the location of the treasure. The location of the treasure was marked by Flint on a map dated 1750 that was entrusted to his first mate William "Billy Bones, and later into the hands of the hero of the novel, Jim Hawkins. Captain Flint was the disguise of undercover Federal officer, Agent Hargrove. After many years of looting, Flint amounted an enormous treasure which he hid upon the mystical Treasure Planet; the location of which could be revealed by a spherical map device which came into possession of pirate Billy Bones; whom was pursued and killed by Long John Silver and his crew as they searched for it. When Jim Hawkins inherited the map from the dying Bones, he and his friend Dr. Doppler organized an expedition to find the planet aboard the ship RLS Legacy; whose crew, unknown to them, actually consisted of Silver and his pirates. The only person Flint was said to fear was his quartermaster Long John Silver, who later even called his parrot "Captain Flint" in mockery. Flint is said to have died at the Pirates' House an inn in the American city of Savannah, shouting "Darby M'Graw - fetch aft the rum...." His death was said in the book to have been caused by the effects of rum. The inscription on the map suggests that he died in 1754. When they did arrive on Treasure Planet it became clear that the planet was an artificial machine which contained the treasure and Flint's corpse in its central chamber. They also discovered that Flint had prepared a trap to ensure that his treasure would never be stolen; which consisted of the entire planet's destruction, activated by someone entering the treasure chamber. The intruders managed to escape on time, but except for a few coins took by Silver; the treasure was lost forever. Captain Flint is the fabled buccaneer captain in Muppet Treasure Island. Flint is glimpsed in the film's prologue, bringing his treasure ashore to be buried, and ruthlessly murdering all his shipmates who accompanied to preserve the secret. Though long dead during the film's main narrative, the search for Flint's treasure drives the plot. It was also Flint who callously took up with Benjamina Gunn, after she was jilted by Captain Abraham Smollett, and stranded her on the island. His first name is Bernie. The ghost of Captain Flint narrates various portions of the Muppet Treasure Island CD-ROM game, performed by an uncredited voiceover artist. Captain Flint was the disguise of undercover Federal officer, Agent Hargrove.
