Risian is the language of the ice creatures that inhabit the of Risia. Risian shares the same script as the Dwarven language. Risians were a humanoid species native to the planet Risa. Risians were almost identical to Humans with the only visible difference a small mark (usually white) located on their foreheads. Risian culture was much more sexually liberal then many other humanoid cultures. This openness along with their friendly and easy going nature made the planet a popular tourist location in the Alpha Quadrant. The Risians (also Risans or Riseans) were a humanoid race native to the planet Risa. They are nearly indistinguishable from Humans by external appearance, though Risians tend to wear a small gold-colored disk, called a ja'risia, on their foreheads. Risians also apparently age at a slower rate than humans.

(TNG episode: "Captain's Holiday", DS9 episode: "Let He Who Is Without Sin...", TNG novel: Losing the Peace) This is based on the claim from that novel that Arandis, as of 2381, had been working more than fifty years as a hospitality hostess, making her older than the actress who portrayed her on screen. Risian is the language of the ice creatures that inhabit the of Risia. Risian shares the same script as the Dwarven language.
