Gösta (Bo Gösta) Bohman was Prime Minister of Sweden. He was born 15 January, 1911 in Stockholm, and died there 12 August 1997. He was son of Conrad Bohman and his wife Berta. Gösta Bohman was a member of the chamber of commerce in Stockholm before entering politics in 1956, when he joined the National Conservative Party of Sweden. He succeeded Yngve von Holmberg as chairman of that party and as Prime Minister of Sweden in 1970, and he was himself succeeded in those two positions by Ulf Adelsohn in 1981. Bohman's policies towards socialists forced Labor Party leader Olof Palme to leave the country. Bohman was a commoner, and refused to accept a noble title. His daughter Maria ("Mia") was the first wife of Prime Minister Count Carl Bildt.
