The "Sign of Freedom" was the hooded alias of (at least) two different men who served as the leaders of an underground resistance movement in Nazi Germany during WW2. The first man known to possess this title was Otto Von Bergner, who was shot dead by the Gestapo after stolen foodstuffs bearing the Sign of Freedom's mark were discovered in his basement. The second was Jimmie Clarkson, a downed Canadian fighter pilot Otto had saved from the Gestapo. After Otto's dying breath was used to name him as his successor, Jimmie donned the cloak and lead the underground movement against the Nazis with the assistance of Otto's sister, Karen.
