PC Optimizer Pro
rdfs:comment
PC Optimizer Pro is an antivirus that is actually a rogue optimisation program from the Vundo family of rogue software, available in a few other languages. This adware and scareware can be downloaded on systems with Windows XP to Windows 8, showing fake scan popups. It also makes a fake "speedup", which installs more unwanted software (PUPs) and collects the user's information. Much like the now-viral and iconic adware BonziBUDDY, PC Optimizer Pro has received large amounts of attention after several high-profile internet live streamers examined and messed around with it, most famously Joel from Vinesauce. at times it is also misinterpreted as System Optimizer Pro.

n20:abstract
This program also asks the user to pay for the license from them. The scareware can be installed from its website or using various third-party software bundlers. While installing, it drops the following components to the C:\Program Files\Optimizer Pro or to C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\\: * Optimizer.exe * 1984981189321.exe * Optimizer.dll * SecurityAddon.dll It also creates a folder in the C:\WINDOWS\ directory, called "System64" and drops a text document called Bootfile.txt, which is used to collect the victim's data. It also scares the victim with fake scan results, such as saying they have 1350 viruses even when they don't have any malware at all. It then tells the user that they need to upgrade to the full version to remove the issues.
