A lot of people put a lot of effort into the Kerry campaign. Kerry got more help and support than most put into any sort of "service" oriented activity in the past. Kerry workers were discouraged to loose after all that work, especially with how badly the Democrats lost. Even those with rather jaded views of elections and the not very partisan citizens can be a bit disappointed. Most hate one-party government. Most hate extreme one party government. Most are just happy that the election has ended so that we can get back to real work. Hopes surface in the desire that all this energy can be harnessed to do something real.
