Brian's Archery Supplies, a store that sells Ranged supplies, has a couple of rats which are very convenient for the player, since the store is located near Hetty the Witch's house. After completion of the miniquest, the Rat's tail is unobtainable unless you are to kill a rat, complete the quest and pick it up. If the player shows a Rat's Tail to the Wise Old Man after completing the miniquest, he will tell the player to get rid of it. (Before completing he says "You have brought me a tail of a rat!" and "Yes, I think you should keep it for now.") The Rat's tail (Babiana ringens) is a flowering plant native to South Africa. The foliage is long and erect with a sterile main stalk. The plant bears bright red, tubular flowers on side branches close to the ground. It grows in sandy soil. A Rats tail is used in the Monstercrafting skill. When its used with an Empty monster box and 10 Monster fragments it combines to make a House rat box giving 10 Monstercrafting xp. It can be found as a very common drop from rats only after the player has completed the It's Alive! quest. It is usually confused with a rat's tail which is used in the Witch's Potion quest. A Rat's Tail is an item found in the Witch's Potion Quest or by digging level 2 sites in Digsite. It is used to complete the potion in the quest. In the quest, Hetty asks for burntmeat, a rat's tail, and an onion. To get a rat's tail, during the quest, kill any rat. After the quest is finished, this item cannot be re-obtained. Other sources will have you belive that any rat drops this item, but that is not the case. Giant rats DO NOT drop this, only regular(small) sized rats will drop this item with 100% chance after you have started Witch's Potion quest. The Rat's tail (Babiana ringens) is a flowering plant native to South Africa. The foliage is long and erect with a sterile main stalk. The plant bears bright red, tubular flowers on side branches close to the ground. It grows in sandy soil. The main stalk acts as a perch for birds, enabling birds to land within reach of the plant's flowers. The bird that seems to be a pollinator of the plant is the malachite sunbird (Nectarina famosa). The male sunbird is twice as likely to perch on the stalk as the female and, on average, spends four times longer on a perch. The stalk does seem to play a role in pollination as plants without a stalk produced only half as many seeds as plants with a stalk intact (Anderson, Cole, and Barrett, 2005).
