Before turning professional he was a member of the Canadian national ice hockey team and participated in the 1969 World Ice Hockey Championships. He played junior hockey for the Toronto Marlboros from 1966 to 1968. He won the Memorial Cup in 1967. In 1968 King joined the Canadian National Team for two seasons. He represented Canada at the 1969 World Championship. The district is located in the western part of the state and includes Sioux City and Council Bluffs.
