Mr. A
rdfs:comment
Mr. A is a fictional comic book hero created by Steve Ditko. Unlike most of his work, the character of Mr. A and the Mr. A stories remain the property of Ditko, all of which were written and illustrated by himself. The character first appeared in Witzend #3, 1967. Ditko has been quoted as saying another creation, The Question, is a comics-code acceptable version of Mr. A. Philosophical elements aside, Mr. A marked Ditko's shift from working on contract for mainstream publishers like Marvel and D.C. to more creator-owned projects; Mr. A was first published in the Underground Comics series witzend and was later collected in self-published comics Ditko distributed himself. Relevant tropes: Mr. A is the name given to a character featured in hand in killer7. He is a scientist who reveals during an interview with Jack Foley that he is involved in the creation of new varieties of Heaven Smiles. His testimony confirms what the game hints at several times: most Heaven Smiles are directly created by Kun Lan's God Hand itself, but after Mr. A and two other scientists discovered how to artificially replicate and alter the characteristics of the light emanating from the hand they began to develop new types of Smiles. These Smiles were created by using trafficked bodies (presumably provided by the organ and body trafficking ring Curtis Blackburn and Pedro Montana run) and were mass-produced in a factory located in a country somewhere in southeast Asia.

Mr. Mr. A reveals that he and his colleagues originally sided with Kun Lan because they sympathised with his ideals, calling him a 'leader of our times'; however, he repaid their assistance by slowly transforming them into Heaven Smiles themselves. The scientist explains to Foley that his two colleagues have already fully become Smiles, but mere seconds later begins to laugh uncontrollably and transforms into a Smile himself. Terrified, Foley runs away and leaves Mr. A to his gruesome fate. Philosophical elements aside, Mr. A marked Ditko's shift from working on contract for mainstream publishers like Marvel and D.C. to more creator-owned projects; Mr. A was first published in the Underground Comics series witzend and was later collected in self-published comics Ditko distributed himself. Relevant tropes: * Author Tract: There are times when the action comes to a sudden stop in order for Mr. A to put on Wall of Text after Wall of Text regarding Black and White Morality. * Badass Normal: As mentioned, he is absolutely a normal human, even without Training From Hell. * Black and White Morality: The driving force behind the comic. Mr. A's entire outfit is portrayed as pure white because of this, and his "calling card" is half-black, half-white, and he constantly goes on filibusters about how there is no "gray area". * Character Filibuster: Oh, bigtime. * Secret Identity: One that's every bit as much a champion of objectivism, journalist Rex Graine. * Where Does He Get All Those Wonderful Toys?: How a journalist could get all of the gadgets and an iron mask without getting any funny looks? A.
