Adam Barrett
rdfs:comment
Adam Barrett is a vastly experienced centre back with Southend United. Now in his sixth season at Roots Hall, Southend's club captain passed 250 appearances in August 2009. Adam has also filled in at left back for the Shrimpers, however, this season he has been exclusively used in his preferred position of centre back. He has been superbly consistent in the heart of defence although up to Christmas 2009 he has had five different partners to gel with. A gifted footballer his trademark dribbles out of defence to launch counter attacks are a much-admired feature of his play. Adam is also a considerable threat from set pieces and regularly contributes vital goals to the team. Adam Barrett is a defender who spent two years with Rovers between 2002 and 2004. He was signed on a free transfer from Mansfield Town by Rovers manager Ray Graydon, and during his spell with the Pirates he made 99 first team appearances in all competitions, 90 of those in the league. Interestingly, he started in all 99 of those games, and never came on as a sub. He scored a total of six goals for Rovers – five in the league and once in the FA Cup.

At the end of his time with Rovers the management at the club had changed and new gaffer Ian Atkins saw no place for Barrett in the club's future. He was released at the end of the 2003-04 season, and he joined Southend United, the club he supported as a child, on a free transfer.
