A lift-mine was a mine with built-in repulsorlifts that enabled it to float above the surface of planet. Lift-mines could be set to hover at a preset altitude, or vary their height between two preset levels. The more sophisticated lift-mines, like Norsam's DR-X55 could detect enemy craft at a range of one hundred meters and adjust their altitude to intercept.
