Sil Jeon Taekwondo
rdfs:comment
Sil Jeon Taekwondo (실전 태권도, literally "practice taekwondo") is not a style of taekwondo per se, but rather refers to the trend of focusing on the practical self-defense applications of taekwondo. Taekwondo as originally developed in the 1940-1960s focused on combat and self-defense. Especially since the inclusion of taekwondo in the Summer Olympics however, there has also been a line of teaching and training that focuses on the sport aspects of taekwondo, especially for tournament sparring. The Sil Jeon trend within taekwondo is a recent reaction to the sports emphasis, the trend emphasizing a return to practical applications of taekwondo for self-defense.
