Where do the stargate movies fall in the timeline

The original Stargate movie is approximately 2-3 years before the start of Stargate SG-1 on television. That series continues and ends in a cliffhanger-esque way allowing for the next movie to be brought in. Stargate: The Ark of Truth continues where the show left off allowing you to see what happens with the Ori and effectively closes the series off. Although they do that, they bring out another film, Stargate: Continuum which shows what happens with Baal and closes off everything to do with him, Baal being the last of the Go'auld System Lords (After SGA S4E02). The next Stargate movie coming out, Stargate: Extinction (formerly Project Twilight) will pick up where Stargate Atlantis left off after their 5th season. New Responder: I don't know if this helps at all, but there is a timing issue on the in-story dates of the movie and the series. The original version of Children of the Gods (the SG-1 series pilot) says that Daniel Jackson has been on Abydos for about a year since the last mission. Since the series assumes that the episodes take place in the same year that they were broadcast, this would place the events of the original mission, and the first feature film, sometime during 1996 - even though the film was actually released in 1994. Some people have claimed that the pilot took place in 1995, and that the first season starts a year or two after that, but this theory doesn't make sense with the fact that Kasuf unburies the gate in season 2, a "full Abydonian year to the day" after Daniel leaves Abydos in the pilot.
